Katsushika Hokusai, From the Illustrations to 100 poems by 100 poets: Fujiwara no Toshiyuki Ason, 9th CE: Two lovers in a sailboat, hidden before the eyes of the world |
Proportion refers to the relationship between the parts of
an object and the whole or to the relationship between an object and its
surroundings. In this Hokusia’s drawing, Two lovers in a sailboat, hidden
before the eyes of the world the boat is the main object in the drawing and we
can’t even see the two lovers in the sailboat. It illustrates the importance of
the location regardless who’s inside the boat.
