Repetition and Rhythm

Auguste Rodin, The Three Shades, 1881-86
Repetition always implies monotony. If we see the same thing over and over again, it tends to get boring. However when the same or like elements-shapes, colors, or a regular pattern of any kind- are repeated over and over again in a composition, a certain visual rhythm will result. I found this capture of the three scale but from a different view other than the one in our text book. From this view I can see the three shades are similar and it’s more clear that they are all for the same person but different body position.
